“There's something really special about animals and our relationships with them. And for children, who

are tactile anyway, being able to touch, hold and interact with

animals most of us only see from a distance is so meaningful and

FUN, for the kids and adults!

We've hired Animal Encounters for two birthday parties at our

house, and the kids are still talking about the experience. The

Connollys are knowledgeable and

so respectful and loving, not only

of their animals, but also of the children who get the opportunity to have one-on-one interactions with

the exotic as well as domestic sweeties.

The Connollys keep both the

children and animals safe with

close supervision and careful

kid-friendly handling instructions, while at the same time allowing the children to find out what the skin of

a blue-tongued skink feels like or to feel the texture of a tarantula web,

or how soft a chinchilla is, or feed a sugar glider some mealyworms, or

all of the above!

It's a unique, wonderful and lasting
experience for your family and friends. We have a new birthday
tradition in our house, and it

involves Animal Encounters!”

Narda, Carnation

“I recently had an animal encounter for my son's 3rd birthday. It could

not have been more perfect! The

kids absolutely loved the animals. Kim and John were wonderful!

They were very patient with all of the kids (and the adults too). They are so friendly and easy to work

with. This is such a fun and unique party idea, and a GREAT value! I

will absolutely book more parties,

and I HIGHLY recommend Animal Encounters!!!”

Ariell, Seattle

“They bring animals to your house!  Awesome!
We had a birthday party for 10

kids, 5 - 6 years old. The kids were

thrilled to get to touch so many

cool animals from baby chinchillas

to a snake. Kim and John did an

excellent job - they are

knowledgeable, kind and fun.

The presentation was very
hands-on, educational and exciting.

Everyone, including the parents,

had a blast. They really made our

kids' birthday party memorable.

They are very professional -

arrived early to set up, returned

calls and emails promptly,

answered questions and discussed the setup and location (our dining

They even brought out an alternate animal for us since they felt
one of our pick might not work well

in the space (they were right).  The
rate is very reasonable and totally worth it.  We were very happy with the experience and would recommend them to our friends.”

Pardi, Seattle

“I wanted to do something special

for my daughters 6th birthday but I also wanted it to be easy and fun

for me as well.

We invited families as well as

children her age. We had children from ages 3-11 and everyone had

an amazing time! The opportunity

to learn about, see and touch

animals from around the world is

an experience the kids are not going

to forget. My son, who is turning 12, asked if we could have them back

for his birthday as well. Thank you Kim and John for such a great experience!”

Wendy, Bellevue

“Thanks for coming to our house today. You folks are great and we absolutely recommend you to others!"

Joe and Julie, Sammamish

ENCOUNTERS programs are themed to connect with the interests of your group and are a perfect fit for birthday parties, libraries, preschools, senior groups, clubs and scout troops.  These are presented "show-and-tell" style: we present age-appropriate interesting facts about the animals, and participants get a chance to touch and (usually) hold them. Our cute and cuddly program is 100% hands on.

Many of our programs are for children, but we also do a large number of adult parties: bridal showers, baby showers, cocktail parties, birthdays, weddings and more. Just ask!

As Encounters are very hands-on and have a single presenter, we have a strict cap of 15 participants. Ideal party size for younger children is 12 or less.  If you will have a larger group than 15, please consider our Zoo for You petting zoo. (Because of customers not adhering to our guest limit policy, we can no longer book encounter programs if you have invited more than 15 guests). The 15 limit does not include adult helpers but does include siblings and siblings of guests. You cannot have more than 15 guest and swap participants in and out.

Encounters are booked with an 10 or 11 am start and again with a 1:30-2:00 start. We do not
book encounter programs past 2 pm as the animals become very active later in the day.

All programs can be provided indoors or outside (with some temperature restrictions and shade requirements- please see below) - we've set up in barns, garages, driveways, classrooms, churches and backyards. When you book with us, we'll discuss the particulars of your location and let you know what, if any, accommodations we may need. For outdoor set up locations we must be within 50 feet of parking with no significant obstacles.

We do not perform encounters in public parks unless an indoor space has been rented (No picnic shelters please). Parking must also be reserved for us on site- No Exceptions.

Outdoor events must have shade (not provided) for 100% of the duration of the program. There must be enough shade for all the participants, the presenter, and all the animals.

NOTE: a typical 10x10 canopy will not be enough shade. A 10x20 will usually be enough.

All encounters booked must have an indoor backup location in case of extreme weather.

We typically arrive with folding soccer benches to seat 12, animal pens as needed, hand sanitizer, and of course, animals. Children are not allowed to sit on the floor to interact with animals except in classroom settings. If you expect more than 12 guests, please plan to have additional seating available.SPACE NEEDED IS ABOUT A 12 foot by 12 foot area.

We request all participants wash or sanitize hands before and after handling animals.

For everyone's health and safety, guests displaying obvious signs of illness (runny nose, cough, sneezing, etc.) may need to “sit out” our portion of your event- entirely at the discretion of our presenter(s). We believe sick children (and adults) belong at home recuperating and not at public events where others (friends, classmates, etc.) would be needlessly exposed and hope you agree.

Any Encounter which includes reptiles, arthropods (bugs), or guinea pigs must be held indoors if the temperature is below 55 degrees.

All programs cannot be held outdoors if temperatures are above 85 degrees.

From time to time we have baby animals which can make for memorable experiences, we try to bring them along whenever we're able and the babies are up for it.

Any person who intentionally taunts or abuses an animal and continues to do so after being corrected will need to be removed from the presentation- this is extremely rare but important for the welfare of our animals and the enjoyment of all participants.

We reserve the right to make "day of event" decisions regarding the animals we bring- once in a while we determine that an animal is not up for handling on a particular day.

Payment of deposit indicates acceptance of all terms listed above.
